"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer
The following are the core beliefs of Nipigon Baptist based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons; that these three are equal in every divine perfection; and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption. (Matt 3:16-17; 28:19; John 10:30; 2 Cor 13:14; Eph. 2:18; 1 John 5:7)
We believe in God, that Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that he concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that he save eternally from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (Ex. 15:11; Deut. 6:4-5; Matt. 6:9, 30-32; Rom. 6:23)
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in his substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession of His people, and personal visible return to earth.
(Is. 7:14; 9:6; Matt. 1:20-23; 28:5-6; Acts 1:9-11; Col. 1:15-19)
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ and that he is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.
(Gen 1:2; john 4:24; 16:13-14; Acts 5:3-4)
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. (Prov. 30:5-6; 2 Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21)
Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations.
(Genesis 1:26-27)
When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.
(Genesis 3:1-7)
We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.
(Ps. 51:5; Is. 53:6; Ez. 18:19-20; Luke 13:3,5; John 3:3-5; Rom. 3:9-23; 5:19; Eph. 2:13; Titus 3:5).
We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
(Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; 1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 1:22-23; 2:19-22; Phil. 1:1; Heb. 12:23)
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the believer to eternal life with God, and in the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to the earth to establish His kingdom. We also believe in the resurrection of the unbelieverto final judgment and endless suffering.
(Lk. 16:19-26; John 5:28-29; 1 Cor 15:51-53; 1 Thess. 4:13-17; Rev. 19:11-16; 20:6, 11-15)
